World Markets Rise On Bernanke Comment
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke says the prospects for a near term recovery for the U.S. economy looks good and world markets soar in overseas trading. The futures markets currently indicate the U.S. will follow the bullish tone set in Friday’s trading and open higher as well.
While I continue to have my doubts about the markets as a whole continuing this strong upward movement there are individual companies that the individual investor may want to watch.
On July 1, 2009 we blogged about ENER1 INC (Nasdaq: HEV) , as a company worth a look in the alternative energy sector. This company develops lithium-ion batteries and has start seeing some investor interest of late. With the current price of $6.50 we continue to think there is upside for investor with patience to let this technology continue to develop and find its place in the consumer markets.
We also continue to like Northgate Minerals (NYSE: NXG) . Investors in Northgate Minerals have enjoy a nice move from the sub $1.00 range in Nov 2008 and this mining company may continue to do well as the price of gold continues to trend higher.
Will Bernanke prove to be right that our economy is poised for a recovery? I hope this comes to pass but as stated many times I do have my doubts.
